Dear Colleague

This special issue of the Journal of Strain Analysis aims to address and review the state-of-the-art in the measurement, modelling, and management of residual strains and stresses.

The content of this issue provides the reader with a selection of reviews and reference articles, as well as with papers that highlight outstanding problems and pitfalls of different methodologies, and identify connections and complementarity between different approaches.
