7 July 2010: Highest ever Impact Factor

The Impact Factor for Journal of Strain Analysis has once again increased to 0.748 for 2009, the highest obtained by the Journal to date.

 

19 May 2010: Fast-track Communications

The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design welcomes: Fast-track Communications, a new manuscript type. These are short articles of outstanding quality reporting timely developments in the field of strain analysis and design. See our instructions for authors for further details.

26 March 2010: PE Publishing Prize 2009

The PE Publishing Prize for the best paper published in the Journal of Strain Analysis in 2009 has been awarded to F A Diaz, E A Patterson and J R Yates for their paper Assessment of effective stress intensity factors using thermoelastic stress analysis. The paper was published in Volume 44, issue JSA7, pages 621-632, and is available free online (please note, if a Board member is a co-author on a paper nominated for a prize, the Board member will abstain from participation in the decision making process).

 

26 March 2010: CEGB Prize 2009

The CEGB Prize was presented to A T DeWald and M R Hill for the following pair of papers: Eigenstrain-based model for prediction of laser peening residual stresses in arbitrary three-dimensional bodies. Part 1: model description published in Volume 44, issue JSA1, pages 1-11 and Eigenstrain-based model for prediction of laser peening residual stresses in arbitrary three-dimensional bodies. Part 2: model verification published in Volume 44, issue JSA1, pages 13-27. Both papers are available free online.

The 2008 Impact Factor for Journal of Strain Analysis is 0.626, the highest obtained by the Journal to date.

 

02 June 2009: New Special Issue on Analysis of High Strain Rate, Impact and Shock Loading

Professor Clive Scivour, University of Oxford, is Guest Editing a Special Issue of the Journal of Strain Analysis. The issue title is Analysis of High Strain Rate, Impact and Shock Loading, and publication is planned for late 2010.

 

06 May 2009: Donald Julius Groen Prize 2008

The Structural Technology and Materials Group of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers has awarded the Donald Julius Groen Prize to MB Silva, et al. for their paper Single-point incremental forming and formability-failure diagrams. The paper was published in Volume 43, issue JSA1, pages 15 to 36.

 

19 March 2009: New Special Issue on the Mechanics of Micro-Deformation, Texture and Failure

Professor Fionn Dunne and Dr Angus Wilkinson, University of Oxford, together with Professor David Rugg, Rolls-Royce, are Guest Editing a Special Issue of the Journal of Strain Analysis. The issue title is The Mechanics of Micro-Deformation, Texture and Failure, and publication is planned for early 2010.

 

06 March 2009: PE Publishing Prize 2008

The PE Publishing Prize for the best paper published in the Journal of Strain Analysis in 2008 has been awarded to Z-H Xu, X-D Li, MA Sutton and N Li for their paper Drift and spatial distortion elimination in atomic force microscopy images by the digital image correlation technique. The paper was published in Volume 43, issue JSA8, pages 729–743, and is available free online.

 

06 March 2009: CEGB Prize 2008

The CEGB Prize was presented to A H Yaghi, T H Hyde, AA Becker and W Sun for their paper Finite element simulation of welding and residual stresses in a P91 steel pipe incorporating solid-state phase transformation and post-weld heat treatment. The paper was published in Volume 43, issue JSA5, pages 275–293, and is available free online.

 

01 January 2009: New Deputy Editor for Journal of Strain Analysis

Professor Fionn Dunne today becomes the Deputy Editor of the Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design. He succeeds Professor David Hills, who will continue to sit on the Editorial Board. We thank Professor Hills for his efforts as Deputy Editor, and wish Professor Dunne the best of luck!
