FORTHCOMING EVENTS

Thank you for visiting our Forthcoming Events page.
Here you will find a diary of interesting and hopefully useful events relevant to the field of Rail and Rapid Transit.

17th - 20th January 2010    Abu Dhabi
Rail Infrastructure Middle East
http://www.railinfrastructureme.com/Event.aspx?id=213428

Did you know that Gulf States are currently spending more than US$100 billion on railway projects?

Railway projects are known to require high capital investments in the beginning but relatively low operation cost thereafter. The longer the transportation distance and the larger the transported material, the more cost-effective railway transportation becomes.

Railway transportation has several advantages over other means of transportation. Railways provide the ability to move large volumes of materials and passengers, according to a regular schedule and over long distances. It eases congestion and increase the appeal of public transport.

The event was created to overcome the unique regional challenges in relation to the rail industry.

Key topics to be covered:

Designing, planning and integrating rail projects: Understanding the complexities and challenges faced with creating iconic yet functional structures
Adopting a holistic view to rail design: Considering the surrounding environment including traffic, environment and aesthetics
Cost-effective construction and operation: Managing projects from the concept feasibility stage and throughout the life-cycle to ensure a maximum return on investment
Ensuring sustainability: Meeting the highest environmental standards, promoting energy efficiency and preparing for imminent regulation
