Journal of Multi-body Dynamics

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part K: Journal of Multi-body Dynamics

The Journal of Multi-body Dynamics is a multi-disciplinary forum covering all aspects of mechanical design and dynamic analysis of multi-body systems. It is essential reading for academic and industrial research and development departments active in the mechanical design, monitoring and dynamic analysis of multi-body systems. Published four times a year. ISSN:1464-4193 (Print); 2041-3068 (Online)

Message from the Editor

Dear Colleague,

The Journal of Multi-body Dynamics was launched in 1999 in response to the growing use of analysis in industry. The advent of commercial multi-body codes in the 1970s, and the increased use of the same in the late 80s and 90s, pointed to a need for a greater awareness in industry of the ongoing research developments. Interactions between multi-body dynamics and other phenomena which contribute to system dynamics could be increasingly integrated in design evaluation and analysis.

In the 1990s as computer power increased, along with better methods of solution, a new era of multi-physics, multi-scale analysis, enabling a more representative analysis of system behaviour, emerged. The realisation of this led to the establishment of this Journal with an Editorial Board which represents a broad spectrum of expertise.

The Editorial Board has always comprised leading scientists and professional engineers, a mix that has inspired growing numbers of submissions of high quality science-based and application-oriented articles.

There have been groundbreaking special issues specific to certain industry/fields and in advancement and commemoration of sub-fields of the area of dynamics.

Today the Journal is regarded as a leading publication in the very broad field of dynamics, not only by the leading lights and emerging individuals who regularly publish their latest findings, but also by practicing engineering professionals from a wide variety of industry. This Journal represents everyone with an interest in the field of dynamics.

As Editor, and on behalf of my learned colleagues on the Editorial Board, I would like to take this opportunity of inviting you to interact with the Journal as authors, subscribers, reviewers and in any other form of feedback.
